Home-Builders Project is one of Hilltop Aid’s many projects aimed at preventing homelessness. The main goal of Home-Builders project is to empower women among families living in temporary accommodations and women among families at risk of becoming homeless to become motivated through training, career workshops and one-to-one support to take on new skills in order to be financially independent and subsequently promote social integration and emotional stability within their family units and the community as a whole.

Who is Home-Builders Project for?

Home- Builders Project is accessible to unemployed women aged 18 and above from different backgrounds living in Barking & Dagenham.

How is the Home-Builders Project delivered?

The project will run for eight weeks starting with an induction day to be held on Saturday 9th June at St Margaret Centre, The Broadway IG11 8AS by 11am-2pm. At the beginning of the project, each participant will be assessed on their level of literacy and numeracy skills. Different workshops, seminars and trainings will be arranged within eight weeks for participants to attend and become self confident in identifying, exploring and utilizing their job and entrepreneurship skills.

What are the structured Activities that will be provided in Home-Builders Project?

  • Advice and Information on Skill Enhancement.
  • Career Enhancement Workshops.
  • Mentoring/One-to-one sessions.
  • Trainings in Basic Skills e.g Literacy and Numeracy skills, Interpersonal skills, Effective communication skills, Food & Hygiene, Health & Safety.

How much do I have to pay to be on Home-Builders Project?

Home-Builders Project is FREE to all registered participants. However, a level of commitment is required by participants to attend all sessions, as an overall assessment and performance monitoring at the sessions will be used to evaluate achievements of participants.
