The Food at Reach Project is a new initiative by Hilltop Aid charity to provide food to homeless people within Barking & Dagenham who are believed to have basic needs like food.
The main aim of the project is to relieve homeless people within the reach of Hilltop Aid the worries of hunger as they already have too much to cope with regarding their homelessness status.
Sainsbury’s in Chadwell Heath has been donating surplus food to Hilltop Aid since July. The store is looking forward to work in partnership with Hilltop Aid throughout the rest of year 2013.
Below are the lists of food that can be handed out to homeless people:
- Groceries including cans, packet and jars
- Frozen Foods like ready meals
- Pre-packed meat, fish and poultry
- Fruits and vegetables
- Bread and cakes
In order to qualify to receive food:
- You must be homeless(i.e sleeping rough, living in a hostel or temporary accomodation)
